2020 Lincoln MKC Successor Spy Shots and First Details


Lincoln’s MKC crossover will definitely receive a complete redesign in the coming year. However, when the new-generation model arrives the nameplate will be replaced with, well, with something new and hopefully exciting. As far as we’ve heard, the 2020 Lincoln MKC successor will be ready by mid-2019, which is earlier than the carmaker originally announced.

There’s nothing official regarding the crossover so far, though the first spy shots may tell us what’s cooking in Lincoln’s garage. The upscale equivalent of the Ford Escape will apparently get pretty much the same footprint as the Blue Oval sibling. In addition, the 2020 Lincoln MKC will reportedly borrow some styling cues from the gorgeous Aviator concept. We see the identical side mirrors and front fenders even now, while the production model might also host Aviator-inspired headlights and taillights, as well as the pretty similar grille.

Since it’s going to be pretty much the same size as the Escape, the 2020 Lincoln MKC successor will also have the equivalent interior space. Still, as we are talking about a more luxurious model, it should be fitted with better-quality materials and better standard equipment. Speaking of standard features, we have to mention that the Sync infotainment platform will be standard for sure, which refers to a 12-inch display screen in the gauge cluster, too.

The redesigned crossover will host pretty much the same engine options as Ford’s compact crossover. More precisely, Lincoln will probably skip the starting 169-hp strong engine, so the potential buyers should be able to choose between 179 and 245 horsepower turbo-four mills. Some reports claim that the American automaker plans to introduce a plug-in hybrid option as well. That’s quite realistic since the carmaker offers an electrified version of the Aviator already.

Originally, the 2020 MKC successor has been planned to be introduced as a 2021 model, but the carmaker decided to speed up the job because they bowed out the Continental from plans. Let’s hope that the carmaker won’t name the crossover like the dying sedan.
