2019 Skoda Kodiaq GT Coupe SUV Caught Without Camouflage

Perhaps some of you may find this vehicle interesting for some reason, but if you want our opinion, we think that this may be of the worst coupe SUVs ever made. The vehicle hasn’t been officially revealed yet, but the prototype which is spotted in China doesn’t wear any camouflage at all, so it’s quite clear that the 2019 Skoda Kodiaq GT Coupe SUV isn’t really some gorgeous piece of metal at all.

While the profile of Skoda’s mid-size coupe SUV reveals a pretty interesting, almost Q8’s design, everything else is a disaster. The 2019 Kodiaq GT rides on interesting alloy wheels, but the problem is the size of wheels, which is obviously too small for these wheel arches. Up front, the crossover hosts pretty attractive halogen headlights, yet everything seems to be spoiled with an inconclusive grille. Around back, the SUV doesn’t really look bad at all. Moreover, the attractive taillights and a dual exhaust system create some sense of performance here.

Speaking of which, the 2019 Skoda Kodiaq GT Coupe SUV will not be as fast and furious as most of the models form the segment. As far as we’ve heard the carmaker will offer just a 2.0-liter TSI unit which will be available in two tunes. The base model will reportedly deliver 186 horsepower, which the topper should be able to pump out 220 horsepower. No matter which option the potential buyer chooses it’s going to be mated to the DSG seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. On the other hand, they will be able to pick between front- and all-wheel-drive systems.

The prototype doesn’t reveal the cabin at all, but we think that this could be the strongest card of the mid-size coupe SUV. The vehicle will offer plenty of space thanks to 4.6 meters in length, 1.8 meters in width, and a wheelbase of 2,791 millimeters. These measures may be nothing special for a seven-seat SUV, but they definitely deliver more than enough space for a two-row and five-seat arrangement which is going to be the case with the all-new Skoda Kodiaq GT.

The SUV will make debut at the 2018 Chengdu Auto Show in September. According to the latest reports, the automaker will set the base price somewhere at 220,000 yuan, which is currently a bit under €28,000.
