2019 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 Gets 6 Engine Options: A New Turbo-Four Is Really Impressive

Chevy has released the final list of powertrains for the new-generation Silverado 1500. According to the manufacturer, today’s 4.3-liter V6 will stay on board. However, the unit will be available in lower trim levels such as Work Truck, Custom, and Custom Trail Boss.

The 2019 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 will also host two completely new mills. One of them is an all-new and pretty impressive 2.7-liter inline-4 unit which is going to be able to develop 310 horsepower and 348 pound-feet of torque. The output is, as you can see, significantly higher from 4.3-liter’s engine that will stay limited to 285 horsepower and 305 lb-ft of grunt. Plus, the new turbo-four will definitely have a far better fuel economy. In contrast to the 4.3-liter mill that’s mated to a six-speed gearbox only, the new 2.7-liter engine will be paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission.

The second all-new engine under the hood of the 2019 Silverado 1500 is going to be a 3.0-liter turbocharged inline-6 diesel. Chevy hasn’t released anything further regarding the oil-chugging option, so we still have no idea how powerful is going to be the mill. On the other hand, we are pretty sure that the diesel will come paired with a 10-speed auto gearbox.

Chevrolet counts the 5.3-liter V8 engine two times. That’s because they’ve kept the old option with Active Fuel Management cylinder deactivation system, plus there is one fitted with new Dynamic Fuel Management. Basically, the old AFM system can’t operate as the DFM because the new system is able to use as many cylinders as the truck needs at the particular moment. In addition, the older variant of the V8 is mated to a six-speed gearbox, while the upgraded 5.3-liter mill uses 8-speed option. Both of them deliver 355 horsepower and 383 pound-feet of twist.

The topping new-generation Chevy Silverado 1500 is mated to a 6.2-liter V-8 that produces 420 horsepower and 460 lb-ft of torque. The unit is using DFM system too.
